Certainteed siding offers a wide range of attractive colors in a high end siding named MONOGRAM
Certainteed Monogram (their premiere line of siding) has been a favorite of mine for many years, especially in the early to mid 90's. They were the first company I know of make a true hurricane rated panel with a double strength nail hem. In many ways their design changed the industry. Monogram often rates #1 in Consumer Reports. Their color choices are superb. The grain pattern is molded off of real cedar and is not drawn by an "artist". Their product remains pretty much unchanged and is a time proven design. I generally find myself recommending Monogram to buyers seeking a realistic multi colored vinyl siding.
They make some beautiful "natural stained look vinyls". I've been looking over the web quite a bit lately and have noted that many brands tend to make their products look a little better online than in real life. Certainteeds' Monogram premium line really shines when shown side by side against other competitive products. The color is 3D, richly detailed, and doesn't have that really flat cheap look that is so common from manufacturers seeking to get a similar look. The frontier blend has been a popular color for woodsy homes and the arctic blend has been popular near waterfront areas.
MONOGRAM offers some excellent color choices for those who want a multi colored panel. (Premium colors are quite spendy)
We did a home with a beautiful wishing well, light house, flag pavilions (all sided to match) and more right on the ocean, on the main ocean highway . The owners added some seagulls and it really came out striking. I'll try to get some nice pics to add to this site on my next family trip out to the Pacific. In the past the step down products under the Certainteed label suffered dramatically in quality compared to the Monogram premium panel and I really cannot think of a reason not to go with their best. The Monogram siding rates in my top three high quality picks, and although it isn't our best seller, it always deserves a good hard look and should be considered in a vinyl siding decision. It is a well designed high end product.
Certainteed manufactures a fine line of accessories. They are a major manufacturer and offer everything from custom corners, to trim lineals, scallops, shakes, and much more. Locally they purchased the Insulate window plant and now make some beautiful heavy duty vinyl windows and some very finely detailed sliding doors.
They have a subsidiary company Wolverine which manufactures a "fiberglass reinforced" vinyl siding. In my opinion it is highly over hyped by aggressive sales people. It did not test well in my own rigidity tests and it is a hassle to install the little fiberglass rods. The Monogram panel without rods is more rigid than the gimmicky Wolverine panel. Sometimes it is just best to stick to the time proven performers.
The panel normally in stock here is a true 43 mil thick (some misleading manufacturers rate plus or minus 4 mils such that they would call this a 47 mil panel) Certainteed is now manufacturing a 16 foot -46 mil panel also, but I haven't seen it in stock here yet. The 16 foot panel is offered in 12 colors according to their web site. While we have had some distribution problems with this siding in the past, the Monogram siding has never let us down. This is also an installer favorite. Some of the largest and fanciest homes we have done have had Monogram installed.
